The rate between the euro (EUR) and the US dollar (USD) is the most traded currency pair in the world. Its dynamics are dictated by the relationship between two central banks: the European Central Bank (ECB) and the US Federal Reserve (Fed).
The main driver of the rate is the interest rate gap between the two zones. When the Fed raises its rates faster than the ECB, capital flows towards US assets, the dollar appreciates and the euro falls back. Conversely, tightening by the ECB or a robust European economy tends to support the euro. Added to this are inflation on both sides of the Atlantic, US employment figures and the status of the dollar as the world's leading reserve currency and global safe haven.
A historical benchmark: in 2022, the euro fell below parity with the dollar (1 EUR < 1 USD) for the first time in twenty years, against a backdrop of US monetary tightening and the energy crisis in Europe. The EUR/USD pair remains highly liquid and sensitive to central bank announcements, which makes it a rate to watch closely before triggering an exchange.

There is no universal ideal day. The EUR/USD rate, the most traded currency pair in the world, depends on the monetary policy gap between the ECB and the Fed, inflation data and the growth of each zone. Monitor the real rate continuously and trigger your exchange at the moment that suits you.
The EUR/USD rate reacts above all to the interest rate gap between the European Central Bank (ECB) and the US Federal Reserve (Fed). Added to this are inflation figures, US employment data, eurozone growth, as well as the role of the dollar as a reserve currency and global safe haven.
In 2022, the euro fell below parity with the dollar for the first time in twenty years. This move was explained by the Fed's rapid monetary tightening, the energy crisis in Europe and the flight to the dollar as a safe haven in a period of geopolitical uncertainty.
