ibani converts your CHF into CAD at the market rate and transfers the Canadian dollars to Canada.
The rate between the Swiss franc (CHF) and the Canadian dollar (CAD) pits two very different currency profiles against each other. Its dynamics are dictated by the relationship between two central banks : the Swiss National Bank (SNB) and the Bank of Canada (BoC).
The CHF enjoys safe-haven status : in times of uncertainty, investors take refuge in it and the franc appreciates. The Canadian dollar, on the other hand, is a "commodity" currency : strongly correlated to the price of oil (Canada is a major energy exporter), it strengthens when energy prices rise and appetite for risk is high. As a result : the CHF/CAD pair can experience marked movements depending on the economic climate.
To watch in order to anticipate the pair : rate decisions by the SNB and the Bank of Canada, movements in the price of a barrel (WTI and Brent), inflation on both sides, as well as the risk climate on global markets. A gap in monetary policy between Bern and Ottawa quickly translates into the CHF/CAD rate.

There is no universally ideal day. The CHF/CAD rate depends on market movements, on decisions by the SNB and the Bank of Canada (BoC), as well as on the price of oil, on which the Canadian dollar heavily depends. Monitor the real rate continuously and trigger your exchange at the moment that suits you.

The Swiss franc is a stable safe-haven, whereas the Canadian dollar is a commodity-linked currency, very sensitive to the price of oil and to investors' appetite for risk. When oil rises, the CAD tends to strengthen against the CHF ; in times of uncertainty, the CHF regains the advantage.
